Old Memories, New Homes
Dawson forms part of Queenstown, Singapore’s first satellite town. The area was known as the Princess and Duchess estates when it was developed by the Singapore Improvement Trust in the 1950s. Under HDB’s Remaking Our Heartland programme, ageing blocks were replaced by high-rise projects designed around greenery, shared spaces and pedestrian links.
Heritage elements and memories of the former estate were incorporated into the new landscape, connecting the story of early public housing with new approaches to community living. SkyVille @ Dawson adds another layer to the story. This high-rise development uses sky gardens and shared spaces to support community life within a dense urban setting.
