Unfortunately, Operation Gustavus faced setbacks and failed before achieving its objectives.
Capture and Sacrifice
In March or April 1944, Lim was captured by the Kempeitai in Gopeng, Perak, and subjected to torture. Refusing to provide information about Force 136, he endured ill-treatment and protested against the mistreatment of his comrades. Lim fell ill with dysentery, and on 29 June 1944, at the age of 35, he passed away in captivity. Despite the hardship, Lim Bo Seng remained steadfast in his commitment to the cause.
